Baby hits the sauce

Part A

We have been trying to introduce Miles to new foods ever since he turned six months old since that is The Thing To Do With Infants Who Are Six Months Old.  He has turned up his nose pretty much at every offering, INCLUDING the fancy-schmancy pre-made organic baby foods that I have bought.  The only thing he will eat is a) banana and b) rice cereal. And even these he will only eat if he isn’t too full from BFing or isn’t too hungry or the weather conditions are right or the planets are in their correct alignment.

Part B

Baby Miles’s naps arranged themselves today so that his last one ended at 4:30 today.  This suddenly opened wide the whole Saturday Night Dinner Out thing.  It had been so long since we had even contemplated a spontaneous Saturday Night Dinner Out that we were in something of a dither trying to figure out ‘where do we go? where do we go?

Part C

So we go to our old stand-by, the Taj Mahal. It’s an Indian restaurant, in case you didn’t realize that. heh.  ALSO, it is relatively CLOSE, it is staffed by men who AREN’T AFRAID OF BABIES, and it has a whole wall of mirrors for entertainment purposes. And the food is good. And we go there so much that we have ‘our booth’.

Bringing All Together

So. It turns out that while Baby Miles doesn’t care for sweet potato, turns up his little nose at apple-blueberries, cringes at pears and refuses the avocado (which we DID think he liked but he doesn’t now), what he DOES like is: curry sauce.

He rocks.

We gave him some from our order but it turned out to be a little too much on the spicy side for him even though we had gotten not-so-spicy (wuss). So after he had a little milk refreshment to cool his palate, we asked the chef if we could have a little dish of mild sauce. Sure enough. He just lapped it up. Well, lapped it off our fingers. Ok, so he sucked it off our fingers, to be precise.

So now I know to just cook everything in curry sauce. Which is pretty much what I usually do so we should all be VERY HAPPY from now on.

But it stands to reason: that was what he ate for 9 months while he was inside the mommy-taxi.
