To do: Tada!

I just realized that I have absolutely no experience with movers except for ones that speak Korean.

Also, I find it ironic that it is costing us twice as much to move two hours as it did for us to move half way around the world (altho we didn’t move furniture, apart from my few little treasures, which was the reason we hired them to begin with).

My To Do List for tomorrow:

1. Mope
2. Rant bitterly
3. Sigh
4. Consume chocolate in mass quantities (no different from any other day, actually)
5. Drink designer coffee-based beverages
6. Oh, wait!  You meant for the move? Right, then:

A.  Pack bags for me and the TT to keep out of the ginormous maw of the moving truck where they will be lost for days
B.  Move rest of furniture out of office to keep cats and bags in.
C.  Clean out litter pans
D. Take down and pack curtains
E. Call gas company again because they didn’t do the right thing the first time I talked to them
F. Get small boxes for plants
G.  Keep out some cat food for cats
H.  Return library books
I.  Stop through local antique mall in case there’s anything I can’t live without one last time
J.  Consume mass quantities of wine
K. Do laundry
L. Take some last pictures
M.  Do a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember right now.

My One Brief Complaint, well, maybe not that brief and probably not “one” either

I am not happy right now. Not. Happy.

My little house is no longer mine and in fact, not having signed a lease yet, we are in a strange condition of neither being a home owner nor a renter. But actually since we’ve been in that position many times before, I guess it’s not all that “strange”.

The house is crammed with boxes, bubble wrap, crumbs, furniture.

Adding insult to injury, I believe my son is drawing on my Korean drum with non-washable crayons, too.

I don’t want to move. But the deed is done.

Other than that, I have no cause for complaint.  I am somewhat gainfully employed, my husband is gainfully employed, none of us are sick or chronically ill or facing death. I am not enslaved. I am not addicted to any substance or habit (except chocolate. and granola. and maybe designer coffee-based drinks.  but that’s it.)

So I try to keep it all in perspective because it could be a lot worse.

I just don’t want to move.

And I just feel very unhappy right now.

Ok, that’s all. Not going to complain again.

(ok, not going to complain about the move again!)

Michele’s Status Update but Not the Facebook Kind in 400 words or less

So that is actually a pretty incoherent title.

Spent last week at my mom’s which was great as I got caught up on a little much-needed sleep.  The single-parent lifestyle is not conducive to that.  Goodwill was also ransacked, Starbucks frequented and a new design scheme formulated to update Mom’s guest bathroom.  The days are numbered for those late 80s style geese, let’s just say that.

Just found out on Monday that the buyer got his loan approved which is good in that we don’t have to find another buyer.  They wanted to close this Friday instead of next so we were able to move the whole plan forward by one week.  We ‘ll close this Friday and the movers will come next Thursday and I will sigh big sighs and maybe mope for awhile in between times as I go around and remember all my happy memories of the house and the garden and the neighborhood and my friends.

So far things have gone pretty smoothly in the home-sale process, apart from being smacked in the gob by a huge home maintenance issue.  The sale itself has been pretty smooth-sailing, knock on wood, altho I am still not keen on buying another home anytime soon.

Unless it was out on some good land where I could raise chicken and bushels of tomatoes.

In Oregon.

Well, that’s all I really had to say for now. Just wanted to let you know the score.  it will be a pretty busy last week as I mope finish up what little packing that I personally am going to do and get together with friends one last time.

Sorry for being boring in this post. Such is life.
